In a recent article which described the Nyeri woman as 'combative and unsmiling', it is evident that it touched a raw nerve among some ladies apparently from Nyeri.

In the same article where the Kiambu woman and Murang'a woman come out as having a 'radiant' and 'comfortable' smile respectively, some know-it-all social media critics argued that the article was biased against the Nyeri woman based on existing stereotypes. And who cares anyway?

But nothing could be further from the truth. The whole analysis was based on pre-independence era photos taken by British explorers of the three women. Whether those explorers got it right in their description of the three ladies, is a whole new story.

Back to Nyeri woman. While it is easy to dismiss the Nyeri woman as not being good especially for a wife based on the explorer's description of her, it is not all doom and gloom.

According to the British explorers' description in reference to the photo above, Nyeri woman had muscular arms and fleshy thighs. What does this one imply? Well, it depends on how you want to interpret it.

But on a bright side, you realize that her muscular arms enable her to go about her day-to-day chores with ease. She can lift heavy loads on her own or with little assistance. That means she is highly independent because she is not a weakling.

And isn't having an independent wife what many modern men desire? And on fleshy thighs, isn't it the epitome of beauty of any woman?

2. Clean and well groomed

Nyeri woman maintained a clean-shaven head. This was seen as a sign of cleanliness even in other things that she chose to undertake daily.
