Though South Africa-born Reggae icon Lucky Dube is long dead, his memories reigns in us thanks to numerous songs he left us. Derived from Reggae Strong, 'Nobody can stop Reggae' line is one of the famous punchlines in Kenya today.

Pro-BBI brigade has popularized the song with ODM chief Raila Odinga likening Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to Reggae. In his song, the 'Remember Me' hit maker affirmed that Reggae music is eternal and no man can change that stubborn reality.

BBI is an afterbirth of UhuRaila handshake and it seeks to heal the social, economic and political loopholes which have remained a nuisance to the country's wellbeing for decades. To tell off anti-BBI crusaders, Agwambo has made it his hobby to quote the famous, Nobody can stop Reggae line.

Of those alleged to be anti-BBI architects is Kenya's DP William Ruto. The second in command has remained elusive but his lieutenants have publicly dissented the report. Speaking in Gatunduri, Full Gospel Church during a fund drive on 23rd of February 2020, Ruto threatened to stop 'Reggae' should pro-BBI brigade misbehave by planting seeds of discord.

“I would like to tell you that this country is of worshippers. And if the issues of reggae and tsunami that we are being told cannot be stopped, if it’s that reggae of dividing Kenyans and bring tribalism, I promise you that reggae will stop,” Ruto said.

A year later, BBI train is yet to reach its desired destination courtesy of constitutional hurdles and covid-19 scourge which has paralyzed many sectors. Did Samoei foresee this? Maybe.

Startling revelations have since popped up serving BBI train a huge blow. This follows after a team of experts hired by Parliament to review the report divulged that out of forty seven county assemblies, its only thirteen assemblies that were served with the right document for consideration.

Time is vastly waning out, BBI train is developing mechanical problems one after the other, speakers are 'coughing' batteries are dying, will Reggae continue playing? Definitely not. Should BBI be thrusted aside, Ruto will become the first man to stop 'Reggae', too bad Lucky Dube is not around to see a former chicken seller who stopped that charlatans failed to stop long ago.
