Many tags have been used to describe the renown columnist. Ndii has been described as Africa's best known economist. In 2020, he was rated at position 30 among 100 most influential economists in the world.

Tharaka Nithi senator broke a record (a record not broken since 1918) when he completed his doctorate studies within 2 and half years. His PhD was from the revered University of Pretoria, South Africa.
