Before April 2021 when he released his now YouTube hit song, 'Fikra Moja Tu Video', perhaps only relatives, a bunch of few friends and villagemates knew about the upcoming worship artiste, Timothy Mutuma alias 'Balozi Karume'.

But not anymore.

Less than a month later, Balozi Karume has turned into a YouTube musical sensation thanks to his new song that basically translates to 'Just One Thought' and which continues to attract hundreds of eyeballs on his Balozi Karume Music YouTube channel by day.

Though it is a bilingual song composed mainly in Swahili and Meru languages, its appeal has defied the linguistic limitations to affirm the unwritten consensus that a great song is, regardless of its language of composition.

And as a common African saying goes, "fame supersedes the owner", despite 'Fikra Moja Tu' pulling a storm on YouTube, not many may as yet know about the artiste behind the song.

So, who is Balozi Karume? Well, here are a FIVE things that you may want to know about the upcoming artiste whose next big hit drops on YouTube this Friday.

1. Karume was born on March 1989 and raised in a Meru rural poor set-up by poor parents.

2. Difficult childhood and lack of basic necessities saw Balozi drop out of school to become a farmhand (shamba boy) together with his sister in order to cater for their impoverished family's needs.

The praise and worship artiste was, however, able to complete schooling, though late, through the assistance of local community, government bursaries and well-wishers.

3. Karume's choice of praise & worship music was a subconscious one because as he says, it is something that he has found himself doing and has come to like. Nevertheless, he attributes it to struggles and hardships of childhood that makes him to just want to praise and thank his Creator for the grass to grace journey that He continues to walk him along.

4. Besides thanking God, Karume's other driving force behind his choice of music, is to shed a ray of hope to the hopeless and weak by reminding them that there's a God in heaven aware of all their troubles and will never forget them.

5. Karume, before venturing into Gospel music, was a stand-up comedian for over a year.
