Ruto's Latest Declaration That has Left Tongues Wagging

Since 2013, Ruto-Raila political relationship has gone through a series of negative patterns, this is however slated to take a new twist if William’s latest proclamation is anything worth a political stake. During an interview with one of Kenya’s leading media outlet, the second in command promised to flaunt any opportunity of forging an alliance with like-minded leaders.

Ruto’s declaration comes three weeks after EALA Member Oburu Odinga hinted of a possible Raila-Ruto ticket ahead of 2022 succession race. Rumours have it that the two erst ODM principals are meeting behind the scenes to chant for their courses. Since politics is the art of possible, lisemwalo lipo na kama halipo…

Worth a note and concern is Ruto’s coded message to his former boss, Raila Odinga. Inarguably, the man from Sugoi was passing intelligible message which reads thus, ''Buddy! i am ready to work with you, all you need to make that practical, just play according to my rules and I’ll scratch your back as you scratch mine’’.

Ruto-Raila bad blood is principally pegged on ideological differences but should one of them loosen his stance, then the possibility of the two working together is one. Ruto’s sentiments has and will prompt political theorists to make dozens of possible outcomes. His supporters and Raila’s will verily argue for days end and though the two can work together, these are some of unanswered questions;

Who between Agwambo and William will play a second fiddle? Ruto has been flexing his muscles since 2013, will he agree to support Baba again? Likely, likely not. Assuming he agrees to throw his gauntlets behind ODM doyen, will his supporters buy the idea?

Pro-Raila supporters have foe decades remained loyal to their lead soldier, will their boss exchange betrayal with loyalty?  Raila owes them a victory and since 2027 elections are miles away, his fans don’t have all such patience. Ruto-Raila ticket may seem probable but putting it into practice may turn out impractical.
