CSs under the current constitution are still accountable to Parliament through relevant departmental house committees.

Former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim has absurdly defended his support for the BBI saying that it will allow cabinet secretaries to be grilled in Parliament and media houses.

Maalim speaking on K24's newly revamped Punchline show on Tuesday, claimed that he does not even know who the current CSs are because they don't appear on media houses to tell Kenyans what they have been or are up to.

"When is the last time you saw a CS in a media house like this one being grilled? The current constitutional dispensation does not make ministers visible and accountable as they should be. This is what the BBI seeks to address," Maalim said.

The former ODM MP would even nostalgically remember how he used to 'chase away' ministers who appeared on the floor of the House without satisfactory answers to questions pertaining their dockets.

But what Maalim did not tell the audience is that him and other old timers belonging to his frivolous pre-2010 school of thought, may just be nostalgic of past memories when cabinet ministers used to be picked from among elected MPs.

He may also have deliberately ignored the point that CSs under the current constitution are still answerable and accountable to Parliament through the relevant departmental house committees.

CSs are accountable to Kenyans via their elected representatives and not the media so as to be accountable to it and BBI won't make them begin.
