Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali made headlines when a clip surfaced on social media showing him beating up an apprehended man.
In the 25 seconds video, the victim is swallowed by a group of men who are determined to extend injuries to him.
While the man struggles to explain himself in Kiswahili, the Mumias East legislature moves in speed to slap him on the face.
The attack renders the man weak, pushing him to the side as the legislature continues to punch and kick the man who chose not to fight back.
The clip brewed condemnation within social media. Many proclaimed that the lawmaker should be arrested so as to trim down on his arrogance.
In his defense, the lawgiver claimed that the clip captured an event that took place in 2015.
"This was a very old clip that came up in 2015. We were in our usual rounds of Mumias field and we found him. We found those guys siphoning fuels from the factory's tractors. It was an act of anger and we were trying to stop pilferage in the company," stated Washiali
