The incontrovertible father of Kikuyu radio comedy F.M. Jegeman alias Githingithia is once again back to the scene, but this time round with a bracing new cap on his head.

However, it is not on the mainstream Kikuyu media, radio and TV, where the veteran comedian has built an enviable career profile for over 20 years has made a comeback to, but on the YouTube 'streets'.

It is while along one the streets' major avenues that you encounter with Jegeman's beautifully erected camp in the name of Githingithia TV. And perharps as his Githingithia moniker would have it, to say that he has taken YouTube with a thunderous bang, is an understatement.

From moving Kikuyu celebrities interviews and captivating human interest stories, to motivating grass to grace sitcoms infused with the comedian's typical exhilarating comical tone, Githingithia TV is definitely a one-stop shop for any Kikuyu speaker out there seeking to laugh, learn and live.

Speaking to 254 NewsDay recently, Jegeman noted that the Githingithia TV YouTube channel is not only modelled on a foundation of fun and laughter, but also motivation meant to inspire his audiences to aspire for transformation in their lives and livelihoods.

"The times that we are currently living in are indeed challenging which is why the online users are always surfing the internet looking for a place they can see the outside life differently and with a light touch," Githingithia says.

He adds: "Githingithia TV is, however, a bit different because it is not just about comedy. We are always seeking to incorporate motivational content that inspire and challenge our audiences into taking life-transforming actions."

Jegeman who launched his comedy career on Kameme FM in early 2000 becoming the pioneer of vernacular radio comedy in Kenya, could be setting pace for yet another first as he affirms that Githingithia TV will not be just any other Kikuyu YouTube channel of its ilk competing for space and unwarranted recognition.

"My goal both in the short- and long- terms is and will be about offering life-changing content that gives my audiences value for every of their moment spent on Githingithia TV," he asserts.

The Nyeri-County-born thespian concludes by adding that he will be more so working hard to reach out to the young generation which he rightly observes has widely decamped from traditional to online media where it is prone to all manner of societal ills and misadventures of youthhood.
