The Msambweni by-election where DP William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga will be flexing their political muscles at the Coast is fast gaining momentum with close to a fortnight remaining.

The by-election is set for December 15th 2020 and was occasioned by the tragic demise of the Member of Parliament Suleiman Dori in March 2020.

Hirtherto, Msambweni has been perceived an ODM stronghold giving reason why Jubilee party chose not to field a candidate in the mid December polls.

However, Dp Ruto who disputed the move calling for a crisis meeting at Jubilee's Parklands for explanation, though not convinced, would later accept the decision.

William Ruto went against the grain and endorsed Independent candidate Feisal Bader making the race for the Parliamentary seat not only look like a coastal region Political affair but also a national battle between Odinga and Ruto ahead of 2022.

However, latest development indicate that the Dp and his allies have abandoned Badar and he is fighting on his own. A report by the Daily Nation indicates that Mr Bader has been campaigning without the support of key Ruto allies.

Former senators Johnson Muthama and Boni Khalwale who were leading his campaigns in the early stages are nowhere to be seen.

The two have not been in Msambweni in a while with Mr Bader running his campaign with other Coastal politicians sending fear that Boga might triumph down Bader.

ODM's camp on the other hand is spearheading it campaigns almost at the homestretch where it is expected that in a week's time Odinga will be visiting the region to wrap up the campaigns for the by election.

While it is not clear whether Ruto will be in the region chances are high he might not be there having suspended all his political activities due to the surge of Covid-19 infections in the country.
