A day after President Uhuru Kenyatta's State of the Nation address, Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has expressed his discomfort on the implementation of one of the president's Big Four Agenda, the Universal Health Care which is key in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his address the Head of State said that the government had achieved so much in the health sector despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the achievements highlighted by the President included the recruitment of more doctors and nurses, increase in critical care facilities and creation of a total of 210 new isolation facilities to help fight Coronavirus.

However, Murkomen through a tweet he has disagreed with the Head of State claiming that the Universal Health Care(UHC) is dead. The fierce Jubilee senator blames the government for the worsening state of Covid-19 in the country saying people are dying in hundreds for lack of oxygen and inadequate ICU beds.

"UHC is dead.People are dying in hundreds coz of COVID19. Most are dying because of lack of oxygen. ICU beds are few and full. It’s a mess and the government has given up." Claims a seemingly agitated Murkomen.

Murkomen further warns Kenyans telling them they are on their own and should take caution. In what can be translated as defending himself of not doing the talking, Kipchumba says despite him being a leader, the people who he should air his grievances to won't listen to him because they are busy popularizing the Building Bridges Initiative proposals.

" We are on our own. I know you will say I am a leader and I should do something, but they won’t listen they want BBI" the Senator distances himself from blames.

Lately the Country has been experiencing a rise not only in cases of infections but also deaths from the Coronavirus a trend that has continued to cause fears whether the government is capable of handling the situation. Early this week Kenyans were left astonished when the Cs for Health Mutahi Kagwe said that the government would no longer be catering for the Covid-19 patients through the National Hospital Insurance Fund, NHIF what further escalates doubts on the government's capability to fully implement the Universal Health Care agenda.
