Deputy President William Ruto has broken his silence over the increasing numbers of infections of the coronavirus in the country.

Taking to his social media account on Sunday evening a seemingly disturbed Ruto expressed his concerns on the increasing number of infections and related deaths calling upon everyone to mobilize on getting human support, resources and financial aid to fight the pandemic.

The Deputy President wants everything stopped and focus be given in the fight over the pandemic. His remarks comes days after he suspended all his political activities due to the upsurge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

"The wave of Covid-19 is clearly ravaging our nation with alarming increases in infections and deaths. The pandemic is killing people including health workers while destroying livelihoods. We should STOP everything and mobilise every HUMAN, MATERIAL and FINANCIAL resource to fight." Reads Ruto's tweet in full.

Ruto’s call comes a day after loosing a close ally, Matungu Member of Parliament Justus Murunga to the virus. His message has been seen as sending warning shots to the BBI signature collection exercise set to start tommorow of which if his calls are adhered to it will be a major setback to the BBI protagonists who want the country to have a referendum in June next year.

Ruto has been applying a lukewarm approach towards the BBI agenda calling for inclusivity blaming the BBI protagonists for what he says being defeatism to build walls that are meant shut others out while purporting to build bridges.
