Covid-19 pandemic has continued to wreak havoc in schools even as the government through the Ministry of Education maintains that schools shall remain open for the examination classes.

The government early October opened school gates after 7 months of closure for the examination classes grade four, class eight and form four but shelved initial plans to reopen for other classes due to the unexpected raise in cases of infection.

Even with the raise of cases of infections and deaths among students and teachers education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has insisted that schools will not be closed but says the cases will be managed on a case-by-case basis.

However, the government might be forced to reconsider the decision after 38 Kabarnet Boys High School students tested positive for Covid-19. Baringo County Commissioner Wafula confirming the incident on Sunday morning said the students have been quarantined as testing continues for other students and teachers in the school maintaing that the school will not be closed but no one will be allowed in the institution.

"The school will not be closed, however no one will be allowed entry in the school apart from health personal." Said Wafula.

The school in Baringo county becomes the latest to be hit hard by the pandemic after 68 students and 5 teachers at Bahati Girls' High School in Nakuru tested positive a week ago.
