President Uhuru Kenyatta will be delivering his second last State of the Nation Address in a joint parliamentary sitting today Thursday ,12 October. The State of Nation address usually takes place during the first quarter of the year but it didn't happen due to ban on public gatherings by the government as a measure to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
The President is constitutionally required to annually report to Parliament the steps the executive arm is taking to achieve the country's national values, progress in the fulfillment of international obligations, and state of security in the country.
Various leaders across the political divide have continued to express what they wish the President to address in his today's address that comes at a time when the country is struggling economically due to the ravenging effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Latest to express her wishes is Malindi Town MP Aisha Jumwa who wants the President to give a clear roadmap to economic recovery and a clear policy guidelines on the fight of the pandemic.

In his address today, the Head of State is expected to address the Covid-19 issue, the state of corruption in the country and the coming constitutional amendment debate through the Building Bridges Initiative.
