Gatanga man almost lynched after being pounced 'raping' a lactating cow

GATANGA, MURANG'A COUNTY- There was an ugly spectacle in Mbugiti, Gatanga Sub-County after a middle-aged man was caught in broad daylight engaging in an unnatural act with a lactating cow.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was nabbed by the cow's owner at around 11.00am on Thursday without a shirt and his trouser half-lowered mounted on the animal's back.

In disbelief, the owner is said to have broken into loud screams that attracted the attention of villagers who responded swiftly before the suspect could escape.

"The woman told us that she could not believe her eyes that it was a human being who was doing such a wild act to an animal that just calved less than a fortnight ago," an eyewitness told MKN.

The suspect is said to have been thrashed like a stray dog almost to death and was about to be lynched by the irate villagers save for Ndaka-ini Police Station officers who arrived on time and rescued him.

At the nearby Gatura Shopping Centre, where the police vehicle made a brief stop on its way to take the badly beaten man to hospital, the suspect became a rare spectacle after word came by that his predicament was as a result of the alleged bestiality act.

It is not yet established which hospital the 'half-dead' man, according to Gatura residents, was taken to and how he is responding to treatment.

While such acts are rare in the locality, in the wider Murang'a County, the same cannot be said. For instance, in 2013, four men in Kamahuha were reported to have 'raped' a donkey to death with several such related cases emerging in recent years from the same Central region county.

Bestiality is immoral and a savagely act in many societies and is widely attributed to psychological inadequacies arising mainly from drug abuse and madness.
