When The Star Newspaper reported about Emmanuel Omala's educational plight less than two weeks ago, hardly did the 21-year-old DusitD2 terrorist attack survivor know that his lucky star was just around the corner.

Omala who was called to join Form One at St Paul's Amukura High School in Teso South, was unable to report by January 17 deadline as he had no school fees.

By the time The Star, Citizen TV and KBC brought Omala's plight to the limelight on January 29, he was still at home hopeful that a Good Samaritan would come his way and help him kick-start his career dream of becoming a journalist by paying his school fees.

This is after the fifth-born in a family of seven resolved to go back to school after the DusitD2 terror attack, having dropped earlier to work as a motorcycle delivery man with a Nairobi logistics company.

It is as he was going about this job that the savagely attack found him at DusitD2 where he was shot seven times, only being able to survive after faking death.

Omala's father, Paul Omala, a widower for the last 21 years now, is a poor farmer who solely relies on his small piece of land at Onyonyur in Busia County literally, surviving from hand to mouth.

However, as they say, every nebulous cloud has got a silver lining. Omala's dying embers of hope to join Form One, have since been re-ignited after the long awaited Good Samaritan finally showed up in the name of OKash, a leading digital lender in Kenya.

Speaking to Magical Kenya News on Saturday, OKash Kenya Acting Managing Director, Peter Kaiga, sympathized with Omala's situation while regretting not to have known about it a bit earlier.

"It is so unfortunate that the young man has great ambitions to alleviate himself and his family from shackles of poverty through education but he has had no means," said Kaiga

He added: "OKash does not only seek to empower millions of Kenyans financially through easy, safe and flexible to apply loans, but also intervening in their social lives where necessary as in Omala's case. We shall cater for his entire fees structure to enable him realize his dreams."

OKash started operations in Kenya in 2018 through a simple to tap mobile phone app that has had a great acceptance among millions of smartphone users across Kenya.

Currently, OKash is among the top market leaders in online microlending services in Kenya and among the most downloaded fintech applications in Google Play Store locally.

It is also an award-winning mobile loan service highly trusted by millions of Kenyans who seek its services everyday, according to Similar Web, a top global mobile app ranking firm based in the US.
